A load of words and stuff.

So it's been just over 2 weeks since my last blog. And not much has happened. Well, not much has happened for 2 weeks. If it had taken place in just a few days it would be considered a lot, but it hasn't. It's been two weeks. I went on a weekend away to Arbroath with my YF which was fun. Met some new people, and met people who I already knew. Arbroath is only about half an hour from Dundee so on the Saturday we went there for a while. We had a choice of things to do: Ice-Skating, Bowling or Swimming. I, being the manly man that I am, went for Ice-Skating. Dundee has a good swimming pool, but I'd  been there before, and I haven't been Ice-Skating in ages. I only fell over once, which was a plus I guess. A negative would have to be the wee toddlers who were doing all the fancy tricks and making my skating look like baby learning to walk. Tragic. We also went to Pleasureland Arcade, which is not as fun as it sounds. The only major things in there were the Spinning Tea Cups and the Dodgems. I hate the Tea Cups, they spin really fast and I hate them.  They are just so sickly and euuugh! Never again. So basically all it had going were the dodgems, and the Candy Floss. Candy Floss is always good.
Another things that happened this week was Valentines Day. I hate Valentines Day. I mean, a lot of people like it. But I bet you they're all in relationships. For a single person, Valentines Day is as good as a chocolate tea pot. They might as well call it "Single Awareness Day" cause that's honestly what it does. The only plus side is the left-over chocolate cut down to half-price the day after. Sigh. Not much else has happened. I got a haircut yesterday, if anyone cares. I got new shoes as well and an application form for Schuh. Back to school Monday though. Shoop de Whoop. DFTBA.

That'll do.

So prelims are over. Whoopy doo. They were technically over for me on Wednesday but I've been too lazy to blog about it so for this blogs sake I'll say they finished yesterday. What I also did yesterday was go to the Kingussie Food On Film Festival with a few other people. It was really kinda fun. There were 12 short films altogether and everyone of them were produced by kids of years S1-S6 I think. I was there because one of my friends was putting his film into the competition. His film won best animation which was pretty awesome. But there were some really amazing films there for the age that the producers were. But then there were some which weren't. And you may be thinking "Oh they're only kids. Its not their fault they can't afford the fancy kit and stuff" but the things that were slightly bad were things which could of been fixed with just a bit more effort and had nothing to do with good software and kit. Their films felt very "That'll do"-ish. Like when they had finished it, they thought "That'll do" and went off to do something else. They never thought "I could do this better" or "Maybe that cut needs patching up". And trust me, saying "That'll do" is never a good idea cause it never will do. I've done it some times on my homework and normally the marks I get back are pretty shabby. But other than that the night was fantastic. Although our train back home was delayed by 20 minutes so we all had to stand outside the Train Station in the freezing cold and battering wind. I don't have much else to talk about. The "Burns" Unit.

So Tuesday is Robert Burns (Scotland's national poet) birthday. Happy Birthday Burns! You may be dead but oh well, at least you are still remembered. In celebration of this occasion Mum is holding a Burns Night supper with 4 other mothers. All the money raised goes towards the Malawi link we have at our school, so basically it pays us to get there, help build a hall, climb up Mount Mulanje, and get back basically. All the pupils going on the Malawi trip are waiters tonight which should be fun. I have to do a Welcome Speech which is basically 5-6 lines of nothing. It should be fun though. This information probably isn't relevant to you in anyway though. I just wanted to put it in so this blog looks bigger mainly because I have nothing else to write about. Oh wait, yes I do! Studying!

Lets all give it a cheer! Whoop de freaking whoop. The past few days I have done nothing but study. And these aren't even my actual exams coming up. They're prelims! I dread to think what will happen when my actual Highers are around the corner. Will I be stuck in my room under lock and key? Highly unlikely, seeing as there is no-where to put a lock on my door. They could take the xbox away. But that just means I have nothing to do in the very few minutes of free time I will actually get. All of this is slightly exaggerated I hope you realise. I am basically just waffling on cause I don't want to go back to my room and study. Sigh. I can't wait for 6th year. The only bad thing about me being in 6th year is the fact that the current 6th years will have left. That'll be no fun. We'll be the top people in the school after teachers. Double sigh. Well, I suppose I better get back to memorising this welcome speech and get back to learning how to calculate an Enthalpy reaction. Yaaaay! Fun... DFTBA.

Mining and Crafting.

So over the past two weeks or so I've been playing a game called Minecraft on the Computer. I call it a game but it's still in Beta so there's quite a few bugs and stuff. Basically you have to try and collect resources (Coal, Wood, Stone) and build with them, hence Minecraft. There's no real aim to the game other than surviving. But surviving gets difficult as when night time arrives in the game, bad things happen and bad guys appear. Zombies that make creepy noises, Skeletons armed with bows and arrows, Spiders with glowing red eyes. But the worst enemy? The Creeper. Why is that? Cause this guy blows up if you get too close to him and destroys everything within the surrounding area. Normally when the night is over and the sun is up, the Zombies and Skeletons burn, but not the Creeper. He just waits outside your D.I.Y fort waiting for you to step out and then "Sssssssss... BOOM!". Before you know it the whole left side wall is gone.

(He only wants a hug.)

And in a way, this could be translated to real life. I mean, you spend a day, a week, a month or a year doing something, you finally step outside feeling fantastic at what you've accomplished, and then someone goes and ruins it all. It may not be their fault, I doubt the Creeper chooses to blow up, but it still happens. The meaning could also be an internal comparison. The day you finally build up enough courage to shine and when you do you get trampled all over. But the beauty of Minecraft is that it is full of opportunities. You can start over, build it all up again and when the day comes, finally step outside and marvel at your handiwork, but this time there's a fence the whole way round, to stop that Creeper from doing it again. Boredom Rules All.

So here I am again blogging. I finished editing our school's Winter Karaoke video yesterday. I would say it's pretty good seeing as this is my first time actually editing something this size before. I'd say it's a step-up for me in my video editing career that doesn't exist. Compared to everyone else's work though it's pretty crappy. I mean, a five year old could probably have done what I did. But I'm still proud.

I've also had revising to do this past week, I realised on Monday how much homework my teachers had given me. How much I hear you ask? Too much. And that's on top of revision. The fact that I'm playing my Xbox 75% of the day doesn't help either. But how can I resist?! It's so shiny and cool, despite the fact its the old model and the new model is even shinier and cooler. Wow I need a life. I also just realised this is my first blog of the new year. Happy New Year! Which sounds pretty impossible. I mean, you try to stay happy all year in 2011. That's a pretty big resolution. Speaking of resolutions, I've not made one this year, granted I haven't ever made one and kept to it. But one of my friends is not eating dessert for the whole of 2011. I have to ask one question, why?! This guy is a rugby player in St Andrews university and is in no danger of getting fat. I'm pretty sure he could spare a Lemon Meringue Pie or two. But oh well, his decision. Now if you excuse me, I have some Physics to finish. DFTBA.

Christmas Kerfuffle?

Is this the real life? Or is this just fantasy?! Umm.. Duh duh duh dum?
I don't know the rest of the words. But what I do know is that I am back. I have not done a blog in months and because my Internet is being really slow and I actually have something to write about, I'm doing another one.

So, Christmas. Did you all have fun? I did, though I didn't feel very christmassy. It could have been the fact that school ended two days before it, or it could have been the lack of Christmas lights in Fortrose. But I did feel christmassy on the day. Slept till 9am. Got woken up my sister. Went downstairs, oggled at presents and then began the wait for the older, slower people a.k.a Parents and Grandparents. So we waited, and waited, and waited, and after a while opened one of our smaller presents to keep us in the mood. I got Halo: Reach, a game I have been wanting for ages. I got other bits and bobs, a new ipod which was both birthday present and Christmas present combined and so on and so forth. There was snow, which was good, but it's thawing now so that's a bit sucky. I'm hopefully going into town tomorrow to get Fallout: New Vegas for the PC. This is rather odd for me as I'm normally a Xbox gamer, but after watching some gameplay footage, the PC version seems a lot better.

What I'm finding particularly disturbing though is the fact that it doesn't seem that long since last Christmas. I still have to watch some DVDs I got last year. The whole year has flown past. Exams, the start of 5th year, all of it. Before the end of term we got our 6th year choices form. Our 6th year choices form?! I can barely handle some of our 5th year subjects, (mainly English though). I'm gonna be insane though and go for Advanced Higher Chemistry, Physics and Maths. I feel old. Too old. Even though I did just turn 16, which makes me quite young in comparison that Devon (http://devonisonfirestill.blogspot.com/) who just turned 17 and insists on calling me Baby Andrew.

Nothing..

I have absolutely nothing to write about. Honestly. Nothing exciting which is worth blogging happens to me. My latest big thing was Fable III coming out and I've almost finished it for the second time. Bwaah! Umm... What can I blog about?! I have an English essay to write but I'm to lazy to do it. Oh!! I saw "The Social Network" the other day! That was a good film. It has a lot of good reviews. But apparently Heather hated it. Oh well. It had the dude from Zombieland in it. Jesse Eisenberg? Is that his name? And also Andrew Garfield who is gonna be the next Spiderman. He was also in an episode on Doctor Who which explains where I'd seen him before. What else happened to me? I'm going to Cromarty Fireworks hopefully on Friday and I have a lot of NAB's and tests coming up. Oh joyous day. DFTBA.
